Is it Art?

I always have struggled to accept Minimalism as art so when DaringCardMakers (http://www.daringcardmakers.blogspot.com/) came up with the challenge to make a card that is inspired by Art, my immediate ideas when straight for Rubens or Monet or something by Turner, but I decided to push my boundaries and look at minimalism or rather my take on it!

While making a card for Sketchthiscard I was using my DCWV Black and White paper stack - my eyes were drawn to a pattern, of squares/cubes within cubes......and all I did was mount it on some white card and add a dash of colour.

I had to leave it at that because I could have added so much but it would have taken away from what it was trying to achieve, I know I will never be a minimalist artist but just by doing this project I realise that it is not a simple as it looks - I have a great NEED to add more, but that takes away from its purpose...........oh how deep and meaningful!!!!

OH it's wonderful... I too had to hold back from adding more to my card, it's natural for some to want to embellish... but there are times when the piece is powerful enough to speak for itself.. {oh that sounds deep too..lol!}

This is a great demonstration of how your eye gets drawn by the way something's put together - you can't help but look at the one tiny splash of colour. Great stuff!

Oh what a clever card this is!

I've got some of that paper and now you've pointed it out I do remember seeing a painting in similar style when I was researching my own effort for this dare! the tiny bit of colour is just so clever
